I will start by apologizing to the people who may have been waiting for me to create more new material. Please understand that I have had numerous reasons why I was unable to as of late, and also please know that I have repeatedly tried to make a comment on my youtube page explaining the situation but for some reason it keeps failing to get posted. Anyway here it is.
Yes, the sad truth is I will likely be posting no more new videos on starcraft broodwar. The reasons for this decision are numerous, however I will still list a few important ones:
1. I was not outstanding at it to begin with. Although as you saw from watching my videos (if you did), I had a very solid apm which average between 180-250 for most of my games, and despite some minor issues I had a very solid grasp on the game in general. I still do. The problem is, to get to a level where you are playing great starcraft, you will need to practice many hours a week for a long period of time. I'm lazy, so this system didn't work for me. I practiced on and off for three years, and that's where I got to. The fact that I am good at starcraft, but not great at it, is an issue for material as I was often unable to find and record quality games which I can use to give you, the viewer, good strategy.
2. Every freaking time I had my fpvod capture running the game would either be me getting my ass handed to me by a Korean, or some ass-hat pulling off a cheese build. While on occasion it's nice to see how to deal with a cheeseball player, I wish to focus on fundamentals and solid play, not dealing with crap like that.
3. In order for me to maintain my current abilities in starcraft I would need to play a few hours a week. I don't have a few hours a week. My class schedule is currently extremely busy with programming, accounting, calculus, and other classes which require copious amounts of busy work.
4. I got sick of it. By all means I encourage you to throw your heart and soul into this game, as it will without a doubt pay you back in some way or another. Sadly for me, I have spent much effort, and because of my sloppy practice schedule, I never really reached the goals that I wished to achieve. By the time I was actually playing some good starcraft, SC 2 came out, and all of the casual gamers moved to it, leaving me with die hard fans and Koreans. You'd be amazed how quickly iccup changed.
If you've been courteous enough to read thus far, then I applaud you. On to the important things. Although I could quite easily close my account and fade away into oblivion without an address to send an angry letter to, I'd feel like a complete douchebag if I left without at least answering some questions. Because of this, I will now be setting up this blog, dedicated for people learning starcraft broodwar.
I plan on making a decent array of posts on the key subjects, and after a certain point, I will likely stop updating the site. It will remain online as a reference for beginners, but I can no longer guarantee my constant attention to anything involving starcraft.
Despite my almost complete extradition from the realm of competitive starcraft, I still consider this game to be the best ever made, and I will always be around to support it in ways that I can. I won't be able to answer personal question anymore, but a number were left unanswered, so those ones I will explain and post on here.
Many Thanks, and gl hf

Hey,thanks a lot for you videos. It's sad that you give up,most of the peoples can't explain SC1 like you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck:)
I appreciate the comment. To be honest I'm a bit sad about it as well, but passion can only fuel one for song long until reality (Math 12, English 12, Law 12, Programming 12) sets in and demands it's due attention.
